Presentados los objetivos de EFIC

La Confederación Europea de la Industria del Mueble (EFIC) celebró una reunión el pasado 19 de abril en la Feria Internacional del Mueble de Milán, donde presentó a sus miembros y su programa de actividades.
EFIC fue fundada en el año 2006 por siete federaciones nacionales que representaban las industrias de los muebles en Bélgica, Dinamarca, Alemania, Italia, Eslovaquia, España y Turquía. Juntas, estas siete federaciones representan cerca del 63% del total del volumen de ventas de la industria del muebles en la Unión Europea.

La reunión fue inaugurada por Roberto Snaidero, presidente de Federlegno-Arredo, quien dio la bienvenida a todos los participantes y se refirió en su discurso a la visita del comisario europeo Peter
Mandelson y le apoyó en su lucha contra la falsificación y consolidación de sus esfuerzos en proteger los derechos de propiedad intelectual.

A continuación, Pia Elda Locatelli, miembro del Parlamento Europeo, expresó su satisfacción por el hecho de que un sector tan importante como la industria del mueble finalmente esté representado a nivel europeo.

Por su parte, Massimo Marchesi, de la Comisión de las Comunidades Europeas, aprovechó la ocasión para apuntar que esta Confederación necesita de un fuerte apoyo de la Comisión, que trate todas las necesidades de la industria.

Asimismo, Paolo Boffi, presidente de EFIC, presentó la meta principal de EFIC: representar a los fabricantes de muebles con organizaciones europeas tales como la Comisión, el Consejo y el Parlamento Europeo.
El presidente recordó que EFIC es una confederación independiente y que trabajará para asegurar un comercio libre en la UE y en el mundo.
