En el año 2008, los beneficios de la multinacional estadounidense cayeron un 37% y las ventas, un 3%.

Whirlpool Corporation registró el pasado año una caída de su beneficio neto del 37% hasta los 320 millones de euros. En cuanto a las ventas, alcanzaron los 18.900 millones de dólares (unos 14.600 millones de euros), el 3% menos.

Los resultados fueron especialmente negativos durante el último trimestre de 2008 en el que la caída de los beneficios llegó al 46% y el descenso de las ventas fue del 19%.

En cuanto a las previsiones para 2009, por áreas geográficas la firma espera descensos del 10% en América del Norte, del 8% en Europa y del 5% en América Latina y Asia.
