La Asamblea General de AEIM designa a un Comité de Expertos EUTR

Importadores y agentes miembros de la Asociación trabajarán en la verificación de documentos oficiales aportados por las empresas para acreditar el origen legal de la madera.

La Asamblea General Ordinaria de la Asociación Española del Comercio e Industria de la Madera (AEIM) que tuvo lugar en Madrid el pasado 11 de Marzo, acordó por unanimidad nombrar a un Comité de Expertos EUTR. Una de las principales tareas que desarrollará dicho comité será analizar y verificar la documentación oficial que los países exportadores de madera están aportando para acreditar la legalidad del origen de la misma. En concreto se centrará en los países de riesgo no despreciable, según el Sistema de Diligencia Debida (SDD) desarrollado por AEIM para dar cumplimiento al Reglamento Europeo de la Madera (EUTR).

En una primera fase de trabajo, la labor de análisis documental y verificación de riesgos se centrará en Camerún, principal proveedor de madera aserrada tropical a nuestro país. Dicho comité está compuesto por  tres empresas importadoras y tres agentes que representan a empresas exportadoras de madera tropical.

No obstante esta labor específica, AEIM seguirá actualizando su Sistema de Diligencia Debida (que se encuentra en esta web), en coordinación con las directrices de la Federación Europea del Comercio de la Madera (ETTF), la Comisión Europea (EU FLEGT Facility),  Forest Legality Alliance y otros organismos internacionales.

El SDD desarrollado por AEIM es referente a nivel mundial en cuanto a su rigor y exigencia, como así lo reconocen varias organizaciones internacionales que se dedican a la legalidad forestal.
