Ikea cambia Sant Cugat por Sabadell

Ikea ha abandonado definitivamente su proyecto comercial en Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona), donde tenía previsto instalar su tercer establecimiento en Cataluña, y ha adquirido terrenos para instalar una nueva tienda en Sabadell.

La decisión se debe a los retrasos en las obras "ajenos a la compañía". Ikea argumentó que la tienda se diseñó en 2002 y ya no se adecúa a las necesidades del mercado. Iba a ocupar 30.000 metros cuadrados en el Parque de Actividades Económicas Can San Joan y su apertura se había retrasado hasta 2012.

En el marco del actual proceso de expansión en Cataluña, la compañía ha comprado unos terrenos en Sabadell para instalar una nueva tienda con unos 40.000 metros cuadrados, lo que supone una inversión de 60 millones de euros y empleo para 500 personas.

La empresa prevé abrir cinco complejos más en Cataluña que se sumarían a los que ya funcionan en Badalona y L@¬#@¬#Hospitalet, además de los dos centros logísticos que tiene en Valls (Tarragona).
