Gran negocio para el sector en Catar

El boom de la construcción en Catar ha disparado las exportaciones de piedra natural: en 2010 alcanzaron los 8,6 millones de euros, un 42,7% más que el año anterior y un 82,2% más que en 2008. Para la cocina también hay negocio.

Lo publica hoy Icex, que apunta que en plena crisis internacional, Catar es uno de los mercados del mundo que ofrece más proyectos en el sector de la construcción para los próximos años.

El gran número de proyectos en cartera para los próximos años, como son el nuevo aeropuerto internacional de Doha, la construcción del segundo puente más largo del mundo entre Catar y Bahrein, el nuevo puerto de Mesaieed, nueve estadios de fútbol y múltiples proyectos hoteleros y de modernización de las infraestructuras del país, todos ellos valorados en 60 billones de euros, reflejan el convencido apoyo público al crecimiento catarí.

El país tiene también previsto construir la Facultad de Estudios Islámicos, cuyo presupuesto asciende a 233 millones de dólares, así como una ciudad logística que albergará talleres, estaciones de gasolina, alojamiento para 5.000 trabajadores, una mezquita, una clínica, siete almacenes y un gran espacio abierto, con un presupuesto de 275 millones de dólares.

 

Toda esta explosión constructora, tanto por su magnitud económica como por el volumen de proyectos, genera una fuerte demanda de materiales de construcción que el sector español de la piedra natural no ha pasado por alto.

 

Presencia española en Project Qatar
En este contexto tan propicio, el sector español de piedra natural acudirá por cuarta vez a la feria Project Qatar, que celebra su octava edición en Doha del 2 al 5 de mayo. El mayor evento para el sector de la construcción en el país reunió en 2010 a 1.077 expositores procedentes de 39 países y a 32.463 profesionales, de los cuales, un 24% procedía de fuera de Catar, principalmente de países de la zona del Golfo Pérsico como Emiratos Árabes Unidos, Arabia Saudita, Kuwait, Bahrein, Omán, Irán y Yemen, entre otros.

 

El pabellón español, organizado por la Federación Española de la Piedra Natural (FDP) y que ocupará una superficie de 270 metros cuadrados, forma parte del plan sectorial desarrollado por el Icex con el fin de consolidar al sector en el exterior.

En paralelo, diez empresas españolas del sector de equipamiento para baño y cocina viajarán al país árabe para detectar oportunidades de negocio. Esta misión comercial, que se desarrollará del 1 al 5 de mayo y que también incluye a Dubai en su periplo, se enmarca en el plan sectorial acordado entre el Icex y la asociación AMEC-ASCON para 2011.
