ANIEME, the Spanish Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters, is visiting Ghana and Algeria in order to promote the brand Mueble de España and scout out new trade opportunities for Spanish companies.
As a consequence of the sharp growth of the real estate sector, the demand for furniture products and decorative items, especially for residential projects and the hospitality segment, is on the increase in Sub-Saharan African countries, such as Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Angola or Ghana. Over the latest years, this has led to a significant increase of Spain’s furniture exports to these African emerging markets.
According to IMF’s statistics, Ghana’s economy is expected to increase by 7.8% by the end of 2013. With such a forecast, Mueble de España has decided to include the country in its promotion plan and to promote Spanish furnishing brands among potential buyers and specifiers of the area.
As far as Algeria is concerned, it is important to point out that in the period between January and September 2012 Spain’s furniture sales to this country rose sharply by 48.8%, showing an increasing interest of Algerian consumers in made in Spain furnishing products. The growth of the Algerian real estate market suggests that there are real opportunities to strengthen the presence of Spanish brands in the country and improve Spain’s export share.
Due to its strategic position, Spain’s furniture manufacturers has been strenghtening their business network all over the North Africa, collaborating in major hospitality projects in Morocco and increasing their presence in allthe area.
Recent market reports carried out by ANIEME highlight new commercial opportunities for Spain’s companies in some Sub-Saharan countries, sucha as Cameroon, Nigeria, Angola and Equatorial Guinea, where the demand for classic and contemporary furniture in the medium and mdium/high segments is particularly high. Possibilities for high-end furniture have been identified in the hospitality and residential sectors.
