Formica Group y Made by Choice presentan la colección Kolho

Presentada por primera vez en la Milan Design Week 2019, Kolho es la última propuesta del reconocido artista Matthew Day Jackson. Se trata de una colección de muebles muy distintiva, realizada en colaboración con Formica Group y la compañía finlandesa de diseño contemporáneo Made by Choice, y que se inspira en el 50 aniversario del aterrizaje en la luna.

25.06.2019 La colección Kolho comprende cuatro mesas de comedor y cuatro sillas para las que Matthew Day Jackson ha diseñado un exclusivo laminado Formica que representa, a pequeña escala, la superficie de la luna.

La colección surgió fruto de un viaje de Jackson a Finlandia en 2018, en preparación para un espectáculo en el Museo Serlachius. Mientras estaba allí, el artista visitó una de las fábricas europeas de Formica Group, ubicada en la localidad de Kolho.

De forma conjunta, Jackson y Formica Group desarrollaron placas de presión de acero a medida para crear un laminado texturizado a 80 micrones de profundidad que es una representación fidedigna de la superficie del lado opuesto de la luna, tomando como base imágenes tomadas del Orbitador de Reconocimiento Lunar de la NASA en 2009. Quienes estén familiarizados con la obra de Jackson verán esta colaboración como natural, y como una extensión de sus anteriores trabajos artísticos realizados con laminado Formica, un material de especial importancia para el artista.
