Ikea VR Experience: realidad virtual aplicada a la cocina

Con la app Ikea VR Experience y las gafas HTC Vive, los consumidores pueden explorar tres estilos de cocinas diferentes y modificarlas a su gusto.

La aplicación piloto de realidad virtual Ikea VR Experience, la primera incursión de la compañía sueca en esta tecnología, ofrece a los usuarios una cocina virtual de Ikea en tamaño real. Mediante unas gafas HTC Vive, los consumidores pueden utilizar la app para explorar tres estilos de cocinas diferentes.

La app permite visualizar  la cocina desde diferentes perspectivas (como la de un niño pequeño, para descubrir posibles peligros ocultos a los ojos de los mayores), encoger y estirar la imagen, moverse por el espacio y cambiar fáilmente el color de las superficies descubriendo posibles soluciones de diseño, entre otras funcionalidades.

Esta prueba piloto, que finalizará en agosto, pretende recabar las opiniones de los consumidores y se enmarca en el esfuerzo de Ikea de aplicar la tecnología para mejorar su oferta y facilitar la compra a sus clientes. La aplicación se ha realizado en colaboración con los desarrolladores de la compañía francesa Allegorithmic, usando el Unreal Engine 4 de Epic Games, y ha sido desarrollado por HTC Vive.
