El presidente de Habitat condenado a un año de cárcel

Bruno Figueras, actual presidente de Habitat, dimitirá tras ser condenado a un año de cárcel por la muerte de cinco trabajadores en un accidente laboral

El presidente de Habitat, Bruno Figueras, ha anunciado que presentará su dimisión tras dictarse una sentencia de inhabilitación temporal por la muerte en 2006 de cinco operarios cuando trabajaban en una obra de la empresa en Barcelona, según confirmaron a Europa Press en fuentes cercanas a la compañía. 

El accidente laboral se produjo en la construcción de una galería de servicios en el distrito 22@ en el que murieron sepultados cinco trabajadores y otros dos resultaron heridos. Antes del juicio por los hechos, previsto para este lunes, las partes han llegado a un pacto que reduce la condena para Figueras a un año de prisión ante los dos años de cárcel y una multa de 15.000 euros que pedía el fiscal.

La sentencia incluye la inhabilitación especial para el ejercicio de actividades empresariales durante el año de condena para Figueras y para el entonces Director General de Habitat, Fernando Cirera, condenado también a un año de prisión.
