Bajo el marco Made in/by Spain para la promoción de los productos españoles en EEUU, Icex ha organizado el pabellón español en la Feria Internacional de Mueble Contemporáneo ICFF, que tendrá lugar del 15 al 18 de mayo en Nueva York.

En total, 20 empresas españolas participarán en la feria para el hábitat ICFF de Nueva York, un certámen que reúne a expositores de alto nivel de los segmentos del diseño contemporáneo para el hábitat, incluyendo mobiliario, iluminación, textiles para el hogar, pavimentos, baño y complementos de decoración. ¿El objetivo?: dar a conocer su marca en el mundo de la prescripción -arquitectos y diseñadores de interiores-.

Además, la presencia española se verá reforzada con una serie de actividades paralelas: Cinco diseñadores españoles –Mario Ruiz, Luis Eslava, Jordi Milá, Xavi Mañosa e Inocuo the Sign-, junto con la prestigiosa revista Interior Design, impartirán un seminario en el recinto ferial el domingo 16 de mayo.

ABR presentará su asiento Cul is cool junto a una serie de fotografías de este producto tomadas por artistas españoles. Por tu parte, Xavi Mañosa , artista cerámico español del estudio Apparatu, en colaboración con Sight´s Unseen, ofrecerá la exposición de The Future Perfect. Finalmente, la asociación sectorial RED, en colaboración con la Oficina Económica y Comercial de la Embajada de España en Nueva York, ha puesto en marcha la iniciativa Spanish Lounge en la que 13 empresas equiparán una sala del Gran Tribeca Hotel con producto enteramente español. La exposición, que se inaugurará el día 13 de mayo se prolongará durante 2 años.

El mercado estadounidense
La importancia de EEUU como mercado para las empresas españolas reside, no sólo en su tamaño sino en su creciente participación en las importaciones mundiales de productos para el hábitat y en la buena consideración que tienen en el país los productos de diseño europeo. En 2009, España vendió a EEUU mobiliario e iluminación por valor de 31 y 8 millones de euros, respectivamente.
